FHSD offers virtual art show experience

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) art show is keeping it close to home - that is, as close as the computer or tablet in your home - for the second year in a row. The FHSD art show is taking place online, May 5-31.

The pandemic limited in-person gatherings so in 2021, the District decided to move the art show to a virtual format. Artwork from K-5 grade students at Becky-David, Central, Fairmount, Harvest Ridge, Henderson, Independence, John Weldon, and Warren are represented in this year’s online art show.

The District’s Fine Arts Lead Teacher, Michelle Ridlen, said the virtual art fair helps connect the community with the student’s artwork.
“With such a large number of student artists K-5, the number of pieces we can physically squeeze into the gallery space is limited but with a virtual art show, we are limited only by the amount of time it takes to create, photograph, and upload pieces,” Ridlen explained.
Teachers select work that represents the critical thinking, technical skills and incredible creative problem-solving that is going on in their classrooms throughout the year.

“Art shows are such a great way to celebrate the hard work of our student artists. I love that this virtual exhibit offers a way for families both near and far to see what their students are creating.”
