Emily Pavia - Principal

Welcome to Independence Elementary! My name is Emily Pavia and I have the honor of serving students, families and the community of Independence Elementary as the building Principal. This is my 16th year in the Principal role at Independence. Prior to that, I was the Assistant Principal at Castlio and the Administrative Intern at Central Elementary in the Francis Howell School District. Prior to that, I spent several years in the classroom teaching in grades 4, 5 and 6 in both Phoenix and Missouri.  I received my Bachelor’s from Eastern Illinois University, my Master’s from Lindenwood University and my Specialist in Educational Leadership from Lindenwood University. I am mom to two kiddos who are now both in college.  Both of my children attended Independence Elementary as students!  At Independence, we believe in supporting the whole child and developing a strong sense of belonging.  We love to empower students to have a voice in their growth and education.
